Cu,Zn-Superoxide dismutase (Cu/ZnSOD)

Superoxide dismutase is the antioxidation enzyme existing in a wide variety of biological systems, and it shows typical antioxidation activity similar to glutathione and ascorbic acid. It plays an important role in inhibiting the negative effects of oxidative stress in living systems. Cu,Zn-SOD detected in cytoplasma has a dimeric structure which consists of subunits having the molecular weight of 32 kDa.
