Hepatocyte Growth Factor (HGF)

HGF is a liver regeneration and growth factor that was isolated and purified from the plasma of fulminant hepatitis patients. In addition blood and tissue concentrations being assessed during liver injury, increases in concentration in body fluids have been reported in other types of disease (inflammatory diseases, neoplastic diseases, and fibrosis). HGF is secreted as an inactive single°Chain pro-form, and it exerts its physiological activity after processing by HGF activator, coagulation factor Vlla, etc., and conversion to activated HGF, a heterodimer.
