Interleukin-17 (IL-17, Interleukin-17A)

Interleukin-17 is involved in the regulation of hematopoiesis and its effects are dependent on the physiological/pathological status of the organism. IL-17 expression in airways is upregulated upon allergen exposure such as in allergic asthma. Its crucial role in T-cell activation suggests that IL-17 is involved in the development of autoimmune arthritis.
