MMP-9 (Matrix metalloproteinase-9, 92 kDa type IV collagenase, 92 kDa gelatinase, Gelatinase B)

MMP-9 belongs to a family of enzymes with major actions in the remodelling of extracellular matrix components. It is the most complex family member in terms of domain structure and regulation of its activity. MMP-9 plays an important role in tumor invasion, angiogenesis and metastasis.
