From children’s ideas to laboratory diagnostics. BioVendor has long been committed to supporting young talent and connecting education with practical experience.
Supporting young talent has long been an integral part of BioVendor’s corporate social responsibility. Through partnerships with schools and educational projects, we help students explore the world of modern diagnostics, technology and laboratory practice while fostering curiosity and practical skills.
At BioVendor, we believe that innovation does not begin only in laboratories. It starts much earlier with curiosity, the courage to think differently, and the opportunity to turn ideas into reality. That is why supporting young talent and STEM education has long been an integral part of our corporate social responsibility.
During the past school year, as a partner of the Future Shapers initiative, we participated in activities that connect education with practical experience. We had the opportunity to meet dozens of children and students, introduce them to the world of modern laboratory diagnostics, and become part of their first steps into science, technology and innovation.
From children’s imagination to a working prototype
One of the key projects we supported was MyMachine Czechia. This unique concept brings together primary school pupils, high school students and university students throughout an academic year, taking them on a shared journey from a child’s idea to a fully functional prototype.
In the pilot edition, we were proud to support a team consisting of pupils from ZŠ Višňové, students from SŠT Znojmo and students from Vysoké učení technické v Brně. Together, they created an original smart school organizer “Učebňák” equipped with an intelligent water bottle that detects when it’s empty, automatically refills itself from a backup reservoir, slides out compartments containing textbooks, and even adds lighting effects.
Throughout the project, it was inspiring to watch an original children’s drawing gradually transform into a real product. Together, the students worked through technical design, construction, testing and finding practical compromises – the same steps that are naturally part of developing any new technology.
The project culminated at the Future Shapers Expo held at VIDA! Science Center in Brno, where all prototypes were presented to the public. Teams took turns on the stage, participants and organisers were interviewed, and the exhibition buzzed with visitors, including representatives of Brno University of Technology, the South Moravian Region, the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports, teachers, students and project partners.
The highlight of the event was watching the children see their ideas become reality for the first time. What had existed only as a drawing on paper just a few months earlier now stood before them as a working prototype and a dream brought to life.
Walking through the exhibition was enough to realise the incredible potential of children’s imagination. A cap that changes colour based on your mood. An AI-powered vending machine that prepares drinks according to your emotions. A robot delivering lunches. A household assistant called Bobot. A walking fan with a Mexican-inspired design.
Experiencing the world of laboratory diagnostics first-hand
As part of our involvement, we also welcomed pupils from ZŠ Višňové and students from SŠT Znojmo to BioVendor for educational visits.
The younger pupils were introduced to the topic of blood through a clip from the animated series Once Upon a Time... Life. This was followed by a discussion about what we do at BioVendor and why our work truly matters.
During their laboratory tour, participants had the opportunity to explore the environment where our diagnostic products and solutions are developed. The primary school pupils also took part in an interactive programme called “Mission for young super scientists”, where they practised precise pipetting, inspected a diagnostic kit, explored the microworld, tested their observation skills and aimed at a target.
The students from SŠT Znojmo were particularly interested in the technical aspects of diagnostics, including the work of field service engineers, how analyzers function, and how they are used in practice. The discussions highlighted just how valuable it is to connect classroom learning with real working environments.
Inspiring the next generation
As part of the Czech Head (Česká hlava) initiative, we also welcomed sixteen secondary school students with an interest in science and technology through the Hlavičkiáda project.
Our CTO, Martina Hložánková, introduced the students to BioVendor’s activities, the principles of modern diagnostics and the journey of a diagnostic test from the initial idea through development to manufacturing. The programme also included a laboratory tour and discussions about modern technologies and their applications in diagnostics.
Investing in the future
Through all of these activities, we have once again confirmed that supporting young people is about far more than sharing knowledge. It is about creating opportunities that can influence their future careers.
Every meeting with students reminds us that science and technology are much more than school subjects. They are fields that improve people’s lives and help advance healthcare and society as a whole. We are also convinced that connecting education with practical experience gives students the opportunity to experience genuine innovation, teamwork and the process of finding innovative solutions.
We are proud to be part of initiatives that foster curiosity, creativity and the desire to explore. We believe that today’s pupils and students may one day be the people developing diagnostic solutions that will help shape the future of healthcare.
