Granulysin is an antimicrobial protein active against Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria, fungi and parasites, including Mycobacterium turberculosis. Granulysin is expressed in natural killer cells and T-cells. It is located in the cytotoxic granules of T-cells, which are released upon antigen stimulation. A 9 kDa form is produced by proteolytic processing of a 15 kDa protein.
