Insulin is a peptide hormone produced by beta cells of the pancreatic islets. It regulates the metabolism of carbohydrates, especially the absorption of glucose from the blood into the liver, fat and skeletal muscle cells. Insulin is used to treat patients with severe forms of type 1 diabetes mellitus (T1DM) and type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). BioVendor provides a broad spectrum of immunoassay kits to determine insulin in humans as well as next species like mouse, rat, hamster, dog, and pig.
